Fat Man’s Top 22 Weight Loss, Health, and Fitness Blogs of 2007

When I first began writing about my weight loss journey this past May, I wasn’t expecting to have compiled such an enormous list of blogs that I actually read on a daily basis. That being said, I have decided to make the last post of the year a tribute post. A tribute to all of the magnificent, influential, and supportive people that have assisted me in my continuing journey.

This list has been compiled with several factors taken into consideration., most of which are self indulgent. I did not take any third party ranking or statistics into account here. I simple based the list upon my own personal feeling towards each blog: readability, usefulness, uniqueness, etc.

I have been subscribed to these blogs for several months and read them on a weekly, if not daily basis. If I have left a site off of the list that you feel should be on here, just contact me and I will review it for possible inclusion (if I like it that is). This is a list of more personal health blogs, although I do read some corporate/professional health sites that are jam packed with useful information.

Okay, without further ado, here is are Fat Man’s Top 22 Weight Loss, Health, and Fitness Blogs of 2007:

Christmas and Exercise Don’t Mix

First off, Merry Christmas to all those who celebrate it. I know I do. We opened presents this morning and I am the lucky recipient of an autographed Chad Pennington, New York Jets football jersey. Here’s to hoping he remains on the Jets next year. The only time I can recall exercising during Christmas is back in high school, during my football playing days. That’s when I craved exercise like a fat kid craving a double fudge chocolate cake.

That fire I once possessed has died done a bit, but not completely. It has slowly been rekindling over the past few months. All of which still doesn’t help me with wanting to workout today. I think I’m going to just take the day off and relax. Although, I’m heading over to a barbecue and may partake in some backyard ball games. Barbecue you ask? In Winter? Well, it’s about 75 degrees outside and it’s Florida. So that explains it. That will be the only exercise I do today, if at all.

I don’t think any public gyms, i.e. Bally’s Total Fitness, Equinox, Crunch, 24 Hour Fitness, are open today. Most folks just take the day to spend it with their families and friends. I suggest you do the same and enjoy it. Today is the third of the 4 Big Holidays, but it’s turning out to be a manageable one. No major eating binges!

Once again, Merry Christmas and be safe!

Weight Loss with Flavorful Foods

Sonoma Diet - See Results in 10 Days! One of the major problems these days with weight loss diets is that the foods that need to be eaten on a daily basis are usually bland. This is very important because some people fall out of their diet regime due to the fact that they crave tastier foods (which are usually high in calories and fat). When you eat tasty and flavorful food, you get satisfied without needing other foods to satisfy your cravings.

Low calorie and fat content does not always equal bland food. Which diet gives you this? The Sonoma Diet does just that. This diet puts emphasis on flavorful foods, flavorful foods that will help you stick to your diet because they taste great. The diet was written by the Connie Guttersen, PhD. The Sonoma Diet consists of several recipes that will teach you how to create flavor filled meals using fresh, healthy foods. The ingredients were inspired by the Mediterranean diet, which are foods that are healthy for your body, flavorful with few calories, helping you loose weight.

Sonoma Diet - See Results in 10 Days!

These foods are also filled with nutrients, helping you maintain a healthy body. The Sonoma Diet is mainly based on the Top Ten Power Foods. These power foods include tomatoes, spinach, broccoli, whole grain foods, almonds, blueberries, bell peppers, grapes, olive oil, and strawberries. These ingredients are incorporated into the diet’s meals. The Sonoma Diet is organized into five meals per day: breakfast, lunch, dinner, a snack, and dessert. By the end of the day, all of your meals will cover the nutrients and vitamins your body needs for that day.

The diet is also quite lenient because it allows you to have tasty, healthy snacks and desserts such as apple blueberry tarts. There are organized meal plans when you join that will help you loose weight starting on day one. There are also useful tools on the site such as a meal planner and shopping list that you can use. You can also take advantage of their online community for support and other success stories. Signing up is simple, all you need to do is submit your specifications (weight, target weight, gender, height and age), providing them specific details will help them find what will work best for you.

Media, Society, and Female Body Image

Why is it that a majority of the females that are in the media are fit? This hardly represents the reality in society, but of course, this is what society is portraying to females everywhere. Of course there are negative and positive sides to this. It can motivate people to try to lose weight and become healthier or it can go negatively when it leads to a weight image obsession that leads to a low self esteem or eating disorders. In recent years there has been a big push towards positive body image reinforcement, but it hasn’t changed how  the media portrays women.

Those who think that the media’s image on fit bodies is completely negative and that we should love our body as is, have a good idea. Loosing weight, through eating healthier foods and exercising, is very positive for one’s health. Even changing one’s diet and daily routines, not necessarily loosing weight, will help females feel healthier and better inside.

The image of the female body has been idealized for years as skinny, fit, and toned. This can cause lots of low self esteem among females who do not have this specific body type. Negative body image and low self esteem can effect one’s contentment. There are those who take negative actions due to low self esteem, such as extreme dieting or not eating at all. This is not healthy as most know, but because they want to attain the ideal image portrayed by the media, they are motivated to continue their bad habits. It is also hard to escape because the media is everywhere we go, from the places we eat to our television sets at home.

Think twice when judging the media as negative or positive, as nothing is black and white. When it comes to the female body image portrayed by society and the media, having a healthier lifestyle is much more important than trying to obtain the perfect female body image through unhealthy means.

Green Tea Is Nature’s Masterpiece

The building blocks of your success during weight loss will have to begin with a superior force of nature. First and foremost you will need the force of nature that is within yourself: your inner warrior or warrior princess. Second, you will need a sword. Just kidding. But why not have an awesome food source that fuels you, clears your mind, induces thermogenesis, gets you to use the bathroom more routinely, and is dirt cheap? Yes folks I am speaking of the undisputed king of foods, the amazing green tea.

Green tea is a catalyst in weight loss because simply put it ignites the furnace in your body. That furnace is called thermogenesis and is responsible for calorie burning. The bigger and more intense your thermogenic level the more calories you will burn. Individuals in optimum physical shape have extremely high thermogenic levels and burn calories 24 hours a day, even during sleep. That is what we want to harness people! We want to create an internal body wild-fire that will burn the fuel we ingest more effectively.

It doesn’t hurt that green tea also contains ultra powerful anti-oxidants. The roster of health optimizing components in green tea is quite impressive. L-Theanine has anti-stress benefits, EGCG is an anti-inflammatory, polyphenols aid in fat oxidization. Green tea has even been credited with warding off cancer, heart disease, and even arthritis. Every person alive should consume the stuff, especially those looking to reduce fat in the body.

So here’s the plan: start off with a cup in the morning right after breakfast. Hold off drinking before breakfast as the detoxifying nature of green tea can cause nausea in some individuals with weaker stomachs. I, on the other hand, can consume the magic potion on an empty stomach. Follow that with a cup prior and after lunch. Repeat the prior and after technique for dinner as well. That is a total of five cups a day. Stick to that amount for about six days and then add a cup a day thereafter. We are trying to initiate and attack your metabolism and program it to cleanse and burn fat.

Some people think that the right way to drink green tea is to squeeze lemon in it, doubling the tea’s effectiveness. If you feel the urge to spice up the flavor of the green tea please limit your options to half a teaspoon of honey. And under no circumstances should you use sugar or any poisons such as sugar substitutes, because REFINED, PROCESSED, OR LAB DESIGNED sugar equals FAT!

Are you ready to begin your journey warrior? If yes, begin it with a warrior drink. Let the wonders of the green tea leaf carry you through your weight loss endeavors. Just think that consumption of green tea will destroy free radicals in your body and also fill you up, thus limiting hunger urges. Another plus, green tea will significantly contribute with your daily water intake. Going hand in hand with that is green tea’s cleansing abilities. You will be using the bathroom in a healthy manner. That’s killing two chickens with one stone! So get brewing, get inspired, get drinking, and get healthy!

The Fat Man Green Tea Weight Loss Plan

First Six Days:One Cup After Breakfast
Two Cups for Lunch, Prior & After Technique
Two Cups for Dinner, Prior & After Technique
Thereafter Have a Cup Every Hour and Fifthteen Minutes

As you go along you can brew two bags per cup to maximize potency.

An Aside, because of normal everyday time constraints, you can brew a half gallon at a time and store in the fridge with lemons. This will allow you to bring your green tea to work. This is how I drink my green tea.
